Method
- Grease a 9x13 inch baking pan with butter or non-stick spray.
- Cut the bread into uniform 1-inch cubes and let them dry out slightly if fresh.
- Scatter half of the bread cubes in the prepared pan.
- Wash and dry the berries, then sprinkle half over the first layer of bread.
- Add the remaining bread cubes on top, followed by the rest of the berries.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, heavy cream, sugar, vanilla, and cinnamon.
- Pour the egg mixture over the bread and berries, pressing down gently to soak.
- Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight, or let sit for 20 minutes if baking immediately.
- Preheat the oven to 350°F and bake for 45 to 55 minutes until golden brown and set.
- Let rest for 10 minutes before serving.
Notes
Use stale bread for best results. You can make this dish ahead of time and refrigerate overnight.
