Ingredients
Method
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.
- Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil, add pasta, and cook according to package directions, stopping 2 minutes early.
- Drain the pasta and set aside.
- In a large skillet over medium-high heat, add olive oil and sauté diced onions until translucent.
- Add ground beef, breaking it into small crumbles, and cook until no pink remains. Drain excess fat.
- Add minced garlic and cook for another minute, then pour in tomato sauce and Italian seasoning, simmer for 5 minutes.
- Combine cooked pasta and meat sauce in the skillet, stirring until well mixed. Season with salt and pepper.
- Pour half of the mixture into the prepared baking dish, sprinkle with 1 cup of cheddar cheese, add remaining mixture, and top with the rest of the cheese.
- Bake for 20 to 25 minutes until cheese is bubbly and golden brown. Let rest for 5 minutes before serving.
Notes
Always salt your pasta water generously. Do not overcook the pasta; aim for 'al dente'. Grate your own cheese for a creamier texture.
